The dominant vegetation
includes various types of oak species, cedar and grasses. The ranch land and game
have been managed for the production of trophy Whitetail deer since 1995. The owners work with the Texas Parks and Wildlife district biologist Fielding Harwell and experienced the benefits of sound land stewardship practices and habitat improvements. The Broken T Ranch is managed in a way that creates a haven for wildlife.

Today, the ranch has a small commercial cow-calf operation with Beef Master cattle, which do not overgraze the land. To avoid degradation of the habitat, the ranch use a prescribed course of brush control, rotational grazing and supplemental feeding as well as creation of water sources while monitoring and controlling the population of cattle and wildlife.

| These practices ensure the optimum habitat for wildlife. We have done extensive capital improvements over the last decade to assure the long-term quality of the ranch's environment. Through our land management and wildlife management programs, we have seen a dramatic increase in the diversity of the wildlife on the ranch as well as the quality of the species found on the ranch. | ||||||||||||||||
| For instance, our quail and turkey populations have grown tremendously with the availability of natural food sources. Our Quail, the Mearns quail (also know as Harlequin quail) are one of five subspecies of the Montezuma quail that can be observed along with many other migratory birds. | ||||||||||||||||
